Second Short Online Programme between Chiba University and the University of Santiago of Chile
The opening ceremony of the Second Short Online Programme for University Internationalisation and Cultural Exchange between Chiba University and the University of Santiago of Chile (USACH) took place on September 2, 2026.
The programme is jointly organized by Chiba University and the Institute of Advanced Studies of USACH, with the coordination of the Japan Association for Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean (JAPOLAC). It builds on the first programme held in 2024 and continues the academic cooperation between the two universities.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Ritter Díaz, Representative Director of JAPOLAC, expressed his appreciation to both universities for their continued commitment to the programme and to strengthening academic cooperation between Japan and Chile.
From September 2 to 25, Chiba University students will attend lectures introducing Chile’s history, culture, politics, and economy, as well as key sectors including mining, wine, salmon, and forestry. The programme also includes cultural exchange activities between Japanese and Chilean students, encouraging direct communication and greater mutual understanding.
Conducted in English, the programme allows students to strengthen their international communication skills while developing a broader understanding of Chile.
The initiative forms part of JAPOLAC’s efforts to promote academic and cultural exchange between Japan and Latin America and the Caribbean, and to encourage greater interest among Japanese students in studying, researching and engaging with the region.
