JAPOLAC Held a Working Dinner with Directors and Associates
On June 25, JAPOLAC held a traditional working dinner on at Restaurant Salasa in Tokyo. The gathering was hosted by Mr. Ajoy Sinha Roy, Senior Director of JAPOLAC, and brought together directors and associates of the Association for an evening of friendship and exchange of ideas.
At the outset of the event, Dr. Ritter Díaz, Representative Director of JAPOLAC, expressed his sincere appreciation to Mr. Roy for his generous hospitality and for his unwavering friendship and steadfast support of JAPOLAC since its establishment in 2020. He noted that the occasion provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen friendship and reaffirm the shared commitment of all participants to the Association’s mission.
During the evening, Dr. Díaz presented an overview of JAPOLAC’s principal activities and achievements over the past year, highlighting the initiatives undertaken during 2026 in the areas of academic cooperation and business promotion. He emphasized that the Association’s progress should not be measured solely by the number of projects completed, but by the spirit of cooperation, goodwill, and dedication demonstrated by its members and partners.
Dr. Díaz also reflected on JAPOLAC’s evolution, highlighting that it has remained active and resilient despite being born during the COVID-19 pandemic and continue to operate under an adverse economic environment, agravated by geopolitical tensions in Ukraine and the Middle East.
He reaffirmed that JAPOLAC was founded as a platform to facilitate communication and cooperation between Japan and Latin America and the Caribbean by bringing together individuals, universities, businesses, and civil society organizations to promote practical collaboration in fields such as education, culture, health, agriculture, environmental protection, technology, and sustainable development.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Díaz expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the commitment of everyone involved with JAPOLAC, noting that the time and dedication contributed by its members constitute one of the Association’s greatest strengths. He emphasized that lasting partnerships are built not only through dialogue but also through concrete actions that generate mutual benefit, trust, and enduring friendships.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Díaz reaffirmed JAPOLAC’s commitment to promoting human development as the guiding principle of all its activities. He observed that while each person has the responsibility to work diligently to provide for their families and to pursue personal success, our ikigai should not end there. Society also prospers when individuals aspire to create value and wealth that benefit others. By generating and sharing prosperity, he noted, we help reduce human suffering, enhance security, expand opportunities and hope, and contribute to building more peaceful, inclusive, and compassionate communities.
He encouraged participants to continue working with humility, perseverance, and a shared sense of responsibility so that JAPOLAC’s initiatives may leave a lasting positive legacy for future generations.
