Honorary Director of JAPOLAC, Mr. Kiyoshi Kimura, Appointed Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Morocco in Chiba Prefecture
The Japan Association for Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean (JAPOLAC) is pleased to announce that Mr. Kiyoshi Kimura, Honorary Director of JAPOLAC and President of Kiyomura Corporation, has been appointed Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Morocco in Chiba Prefecture.
The official ceremony was held on May 15, 2026, under the auspices of H.E. Mr. Mohammed Rachad Bouhlal, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco to Japan.
Mr. Kimura is widely recognized in Japan and internationally as the founder and president of Kiyomura Corporation, operator of the renowned Sushi Zanmai restaurant chain, as well as for his longstanding contributions to the fisheries industry and international business cooperation.
JAPOLAC warmly congratulates Mr. Kimura on this distinguished appointment, which reflects his longstanding efforts to promote friendship and economic exchange between Japan and Morocco.
Mr. Kimura has also received international recognition, including the Order of the Civil Merit in the degree of Encomienda, awarded by the Government of Kingdom of Spain in recognition of his contributions to the expansion of fishery business between Japan and Spain. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kiyomura Corporation also supported the Japanese government’s vaccination efforts by assisting in the vaccination of personnel from various embassies in Japan, including the Embassy of Spain in Tokyo.
As Honorary Director of JAPOLAC, Mr. Kimura has continuously supported initiatives aimed at the promotion of cultural exchanges and business cooperation between Japan and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
JAPOLAC expresses its confidence that Mr. Kimura’s extensive experience, international vision, and commitment to fostering international friendship will greatly contribute to the further development of relations between Morocco and Japan, particularly with Chiba Prefecture.
