Ambassador of Nicaragua to Japan Delivers Lecture at Chiba University
H.E. Sandy Davila Sandoval, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nicaragua to Japan, delivered a lecture at Chiba University on May 14, 2026, further strengthening the bonds of friendship, academic exchange, and mutual understanding between Nicaragua and Japan.
Prior to the lecture, Ambassador Davila Sandoval paid a courtesy visit to Professor Hiroaki Ozawa, Executive Vice President for General Management, Education, and International Affairs of Chiba University, where both sides exchanged views on the importance of educational diplomacy and the promotion of deeper academic ties between Nicaragua and Chiba University.
The visit forms part of the lecture series jointly coordinated by the Japan Association for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean (JAPOLAC) and Chiba University in collaboration with the diplomatic missions of Latin America and the Caribbean accredited to Japan. Delivered in English, the lectures aim to expose students to international communication with senior diplomats while promoting greater awareness of Latin America and the Caribbean in Japan.
During the meeting with Executive Vice President Ozawa, Ambassador Davila Sandoval expressed her appreciation for Chiba University’s continued interest in Latin America and the Caribbean and emphasized the importance of educational exchanges in fostering global understanding and friendship among nations.
The lecture attracted students from various faculties interested in learning more about Nicaragua’s history, geography, politics, economy, diplomatic relations, culture, and tourism potential. In her presentation, Ambassador Davila Sandoval introduced Nicaragua as a country blessed with extraordinary natural beauty and cultural heritage, highlighting its impressive chain of volcanoes, majestic lakes, lush tropical forests, and eco-tourism destinations.
Among the locations presented during the lecture were the ecological beauty of Selva Negra and the coastal destination of San Juan del Sur, internationally known for its beaches, surfing culture, and scenic Pacific Ocean views. The Ambassador also emphasized the historical and cultural importance of Granada and León, both regarded as emblematic symbols of Nicaragua’s identity and history.
In addition, Ambassador Davila Sandoval discussed Nicaragua’s cultural traditions, gastronomy, and the hospitality of its people, offering students a broader understanding of the country’s social and cultural richness.
The lecture also served as an opportunity to encourage future academic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges between Nicaragua and Japan, particularly among younger generations.
